  • Increasing demand from accessories and shoes brands
  • New central main entrance to bring together all visitor groups
  • Digital ticket and admission system in accordance with latest international standards
  • Gallery Trendview featuring order looks for autumn/winter 2019/20 and VDMD panel

The interplay of the two Igedo sister fairs Gallery and Gallery SHOES is meanwhile firmly established: increasing numbers of shoe and accessories exhibitors are using the four possible dates at the Areal Böhler and increasingly also opting for Gallery, as an early ordering date in Düsseldorf, for this segment. This growing demand is proving particularly beneficial for the Showroom Concept with its extended timeframe.

More shoes and accessories

Fairimpressions Gallery July 2018

“There was already a higher demand for shoes and accessories in July 2018: 45% of the approx. 6,000 professional buyers from Europe came to view and order shoes, bags, leather goods, jewellery and accessories,” sums up Ulrike Kähler, Managing Director Igedo Company and Project Director of Gallery & Gallery SHOES. “We have noticed that for more and more shoe-specific agencies and brands, the earlier date has also become an important fixture.” New recruits to the ‘Kaltstahlhalle’, the home of the Showroom Concept, include, for example, specified agencies like One Eleven, Stornello and xplusplus and brands like Café Noir, Liz Fedder Shoe&Style and Lottusse.

The list of new exhibitors also includes accessories brands like Admaiora and Il Cappellaio Matto from Italy, Börjesson Handskar from Sweden, Belgian label CATH•S and German brands like Ambra, b.belt, Vanzetti and Djian. Plus: Hi-Di-Hi from the Netherlands and Swiss brand Veronica Gautsch. Returning accessories labels include Ahmaddy, Anna Kaszer, Bellissima, cimp Schmuckdesign, Caridei, MGM Design, P-Modekontor, Otracosa and P-Silk Route. And hat brands such as Alfonso D’Este, bedacht, ID Hats, Kopka and Mayser.

“At Gallery, like at comparable successful formats, e.g. in Paris, the combination of fashion and accompanying product groups is still possible due to the existing potential of usable space. Casual sportswear can be found here, as well as international designer fashion, on-trend sneakers and ultra-feminine brand-name stilettos, all rounded off by bags, jewellery and accessories. It is a great advantage for everyone involved, including professional visitors, that Gallery is still in a position to offer such a wide spectrum of products. But at the same time, fashion should remain at the core,” continues Ulrike Kähler.

Upgrades

The centralisation of the entrances in a new location between the ‘Alte Schmiedehallen’, the heart of Gallery, and the ‘Kaltstahlhalle’ is one of the most significant upgrades. The new main entrance will bring the two central areas closer together and consolidate the visitor groups for even better synergy effects at the trade fair. A glazed tent structure will provide a stylish entrance vibe, which perfectly matches the industrial design of the area and the halls.

The registration service awaiting visitors there will also be offering new innovations, such as open, digital registration columns in place of counters. In general, the topic of digitalisation is being allocated an increasingly growing role, especially with regard to the registration process, which is now also possible at the shuttle points and in the shuttles themselves. “We are living in a fast-paced time. Effective digitalisation is a must. That’s why we are also perfecting our online services to ensure we keep our finger on the pulse with the best possible services and flexible, spatial concepts. However, we will never become a digital tradeshow, and still see ourselves as a meeting place where people enjoy spending time: after all, face-to-face meetings and personal contact will remain essential. When placing an order, it’s better to experience the products in person rather than just virtually,” explains Ulrike Kähler.

Upgrades to the registration process with new visitor software and enhanced tools are now also making it possible, for example, to present a paperless ticket using the Wallet app that grants direct access at the entrance to the trade fair. Digital, efficient yet still personalised: in the future, the new registration concept will forgot the use of classic counters and instead provide digital registration columns with multilingual contacts to ensure face-to-face communication and personal contact in a relaxed and stylish atmosphere.

Halls

As far as the hall floor plan is concerned, the Showroom Concept will remain in the ‘Kaltstahlhalle’, Agentur Klauser in the exclusive ‘Halle am Wasserturm’ and Modeagentur Schiess and other agencies in the ‘Altes Kesselhaus’ (Showroom Kesselhaus). As always, the ‘Alte Schmiedehallen’ will be centrally pooling the four segments Accessories & Shoes, Evening & Occasion, CONTEMPORARY and Avantgarde & Design.

The SHOWROOM CONCEPT combines synergies with zeitgeist! The brands in the ‘Kaltstahlhalle’ include ladies’ and menswear collections by Allegri, accessories by Il Bisonte, jackets by Add, menswear by Manuel Ritz and Circolo 1901 and ladies’ and menswear by Barbed. Not to mention the denim brand Blue de Genês from Denmark and shirts by Edward Cooper. In the ‘Halle am Wasserturm’, visitors will find Agentur Klauser, who will be showcasing, for example, womenswear from France by Majestic Filatures and menswear by Salvatore Piccolo from Italy.

Avantgarde & Design will be showing sophisticated and edgy brands as well as a selection of international designers such as Art Point, Black by K&M, Crea Concept, Guffer & Fluf, Pal Offner, Sarah Pacini, Black Label, Trine Kryger Simonsen and Ümit Ünal.

Evening & Occasion will be bringing formal glamour and feminine elegance to the ‘Alte Schmiedehallen’, whose industrial vibe is the perfect backdrop for showcasing evening and occasion wear. International eveningwear collections will be presented by labels including Christian Koehlert, Fashion New York, Gina Bacconi, L’Atelier pour la Femme, Luxuar and Mascara.

Panels/events

Gallery Trendview July 2018

The tradeshow’s informative line-up of accompanying events includes the GALLERY TRENDVIEW by Karolina Landowski/Fashion Trend Pool and Alexander Radermacher/Fashion Director of Igedo Company. The two experts will be presenting international trends for the new A/W 2019/20 ordering season and providing helpful orientation as well as an in-depth overview. It will now be taking place in the heart of Gallery, directly in the ‘Alte Schmiedehallen’. An additional panel (tba) will be offered by the VDMD.

There will also be an international get-together for visitors, exhibitors and industry experts, taking place on Sunday, 27 January 2019 after the tradeshow (which attracts on average around 800 international brands from more than 25 countries and approx. 6,000 professional European buyers).
