“Fixed order appointments were key at this edition of Gallery FASHION & Shoes and its accompanying Showroom Concept at the Areal Böhler. Of course we were delighted with the overall level of interest shown, but we still need to increase visitor frequency again at Gallery and in Düsseldorf in general. Retailers need to be able to find all kinds of inspiration and place orders in person. This is the only way forward for us all. In accordance with this are our new accompanying line-ups featuring industry leaders and valuable input focused on all the relevant, pressing issues for the future.”

Strong industry presence at Gallery FASHION & Shoes in Düsseldorf
Ranging from John Cloppenburg from the Fashion Council Germany to Thomas Lange from the GermanFashion Modeverband, Dr Siegfried Jacobs from the Federal Association of German Textile Retailers and Gerd Müller-Thomkins from the German Fashion Institute: for the first time, all leading key players from Germany’s fashion industry institutions and associations came together at the Areal Böhler to have their say on the current situation in the retail sector and discuss what the future holds. With Dr Michael Rauterkus, Councillor for Economy, Digitalisation, HR and Organisation, the City of Düsseldorf was also represented at this important and influential get-together. Fashion is a key economic factor for Düsseldorf, as demonstrated by the impressive number of stakeholders visiting the city for the order event.
With this high-profile get-together, Igedo Company is once again highlighting its expertise and appeal as the original initiator of the international fashion business in Düsseldorf. “And from now on we will also be integrating the power of the German associations into Gallery FASHION & Shoes. So just like during Gallery SHOES & Fashion, we will also be offering a platform of expertise that goes way beyond the mere placing of orders,” Ulrike Kähler adds.
The same goes for the panel discussion of the ‘Future Female Fashion Forum’, whose guests included leading female figures from the industry including Angelika Schindler-Obenhaus from Gerry Weber, Diana Brajkovic from Marc Cain and premium department store expert Ulrike Schalkowski from Value Retail. The City of Düsseldorf was represented here too – by Theresa Winkels, Head of Economic Development for the State Capital, who highlighted the importance of the event.
“For us, it’s crucial that we not only bring together a wonderfully curated, international selection of brands at Gallery FASHION, but that in addition to specialist topics, we also cover relevant, current topics in our future line-ups. The ‘Future Female Fashion Forum’ was an important starting point for this,” sums up Ulrike Kähler. “Other must-attend sessions included the ‘DMI Buyers’ Briefing’, the ‘Future Fashion Forecast’ and industry talks on marketplace technologies of the future with other exciting participants,” continues Ulrike Kähler.
Around 300 brands
For the approx. 300 brands in attendance, the Gallery FASHION & Shoes platform from 24-26 July 2021, along with the accompanying Showroom Concept from 22 July 2021, once again exuded an upscale atmosphere that proved perfect for focused ordering appointments. Against a cool industrial backdrop with a tasteful, loft-like hall design and a discerning showroom vibe, numerous orders were successfully placed over the total of five days.
“And the contemporary catering offer with its on-trend locations also proved very popular. There was a real international vibe in the air. As a partner of Areal Böhler, it fills us with great pride to have this venue as our permanent base,” concludes Ulrike Kähler.
